Ai Describe in your own words what is meant by the following types of abuse.
* Physical abuse- Is an act of another party involving contact intended to cause feelings of physical pain, injury or other physical suffering or bodily harm.
* Sexual abuse- Is any sort of non-consensual sexual contact, sexual abuse can happen to men and woman of any age. Sexual abuse by a partner/ initiate can include derogatory mane calling refusal to use contraception deliberately causing unwanted physical pain during sex, deliberately passing on sexual diseases or infections and using objects, toys or other items without consent and to cause pain or humiliation.
*Emotional/ Psychological abuse- Continuous insults, demands and harassment towards a partner with the intent to erode that person’s self esteem. It may take place only in private, or it may be done publicly to increase the victims humiliation. The victim is told, either directly or in various ways that they cannot manage- their appetence, their sexuality , their fiancés, their emotions, their entire life.
Abuse often occurs with the victim being isolated from family and friend as to where they perceive their abuser as their only source of ‘support’
The abuser may at times alternate with expressions of love and affection only to reoccur again and again.
When confronted with their behaviour the abuser tends to become angry and blame the victim for the abusers behaviour. The emotional abuser allow the victim no criticism or input into what goes on in the relationship.
