Who in their right mind would want to read an academic paper?   The average college student would rather be cleaning their dorm room before dredging through a paper that remotely looks like it is academically based.   With this in mind one can see the importance of “good” academic writing.   You should keep the reader interested long enough so that they can get to the end.   If there was one goal to achieve, it would be a paper that is read from beginning to end.   This would promote a pat on the back to the author if the paper was always read in its entirety.   Good academic writing must present the reader with an enforced argument.   Other writers I have talked to suggest that having a good understanding of your own topic is important for the reader.   Lisa Ede, author of “The Academic Writer” and professor at Oregon State University explains in her book how to define good writing among certain text and how to have strong sentence structures.   While Ede explains her ways of good academic writing others may take a different approach with the same ideas for what good writing is dependent upon.   My interviews helped me realize that being organized and keeping the audience engaged was a big importance.   Gathering this data and seeking to find good writing skills will put it into a good perspective on how to write a successful college paper.   When writing a well balanced and professional paper to show good academic writing skills you’ll need clarity (language), organization, and keeping the reader focused on your paper to display what good academic writing consists of.
