This issue is happening in Nigeria.
• What are the causes?
The exporting of oil from Nigeria has any drawbacks. One of the huge problems is the spilling of oil in the Oceans and killing millions of sea creatures. Just like last year, on the October 11th 2012. Oil producer Royal Dutch Shell has confirmed that the “Gannet Alpha oil platform” located in the Niger delta has had a leak from an underwater pipeline between the wellhead and platform. Farmers are now suing the MNC for ruining their farming lives. The farmers want the Anglo-Dutch Shell multinational Corporation to "clean up the oil pollution in their fields and fishponds" and make sure their pipelines are kept secure to prevent leaks in the future. Shell says this is the 1st time they are taken to Civil court.
• What are the Concerns?
The Concerns of the exporting of oil from Nigeria is Polluting the oceans and the Farm life of the farmers and ruining the Nigeria delta. The oil ruins a lot of plantation. Just like the accident that occurd in October 2012 where the Oil plant had a problem and one of the pipelines had a leak. Then the farmers took the MNC to Civil court.
• Who are the Stakeholders and what is their perspective?
There are many stakeholders in this World problem. Now days people kill for something that is much more expensive than water, Oil. Countries fight over lands for this product. Just like the USA fighting Iraq. Many countries fighting over Nigeria, when MNC’s just go into the country and steal the oil, such as Chevron, Shell, Baseline Petroleum “http://nnn.com.ng/?page_id=3770” and many other Corporations that steal this oil from Nigeria.
