Animal Testing is Immoral

Being a girl I've used many different types of make up, everything from MAC to the cheap make up you buy at your local grocery store.   We never think of where our make up was made or how it was tested to make sure it was safe, we just wake up in the morning and as we say "put our face on".   Animal testing can be a controversial subject for many people, yes it helps us in ways used for scientific experimentation but millions of animals every year suffer and or die due to the affects of animal testing, what makes this testing on animals ok?   There is a long history of animal testing that we have just been starting to skim the surface of and are still trying to decide whether this is right or not. Animals and humans have some like qualities but we are not the same in every way, testing can be unreliable and can end up harming us as well as the animals themselves.   I strongly believe that animal testing should be banned in the United States because it is harmful to animals and causes many complications in regard to their health.

Animals have been used as test subjects for many years now and some people are for it and others are against it, Edmund O'meara has said to have been the first man to be against animal testing.   On January 1, 1655 he said "the miserable torture of vivisection places the body in an unnatural state." (Edmund O’meara)   He objects to vivisection or dissection because the pain the subject endures would interfere with the accuracy of the results. Then in 1789 Jeremy Bentham starts the moral debate on animal cruelty, he asks "the question is not, can they reason, nor can they talk, but can they suffer?" (Jeremy Bentham)   This was an introduction to the Principles of Morals and Legislation.   In 1882 Great Britain passes the Martin's Act which is the first law against cruelty to farm animals.   In 1851 John C.
