A small Island located in the South East Asia, a small part of the Archipelago of the small Sunda Island. This tropical island is known for their enhancing panorama that stole the heart of tourism and also the Island of gods and goddess . An Island called Bali located in Indonesia is full of traditional culture, belief, arts and performance. My point is not to write of the tourism culture, but the inner culture the native Balinese people.
The word Bali came from the word Bal, which means ‘power’ in the Sanskrit language and the whole Bali word means ‘sacrifice’, which means, “so we won’t forget our power and that we will always be ready to sacrifice ourselves for the people. Balinese people have two important heroes that affected their liberty from the Dutch. One named Gusti Ngurah Rai, which is Bali’s international airport named after and Gusti Ketut Jelantik. The Balinese people are divided into two tribes even though the two tribes’ difference is that one is native and the other one came from an ancient kingdom called Majapahit, these two tribe are the Bali Aga, the native people born on the Island and the Bali Majapahit .The language used by the people in this Island generally are Bahasa (language) Indonesia and Bahasa Bali. Balinese people are also mostly bilingual or even trilingual, as English is their third language due to tourism industry. Just like the two tribes in Bali, each tribe has their own accent in the Bali language. Like Bali Aga has a more rough pronunciation and in which the Bali Majapahit has smoother pronunciation.
The Majority of Balinese people embrace the religion of Hinduism. Balinese mythology is mainly a kind of animism with some widely known characters and deities. Many theme of Bali’s mythology have been adapted and worked into current Balinese Hinduism. In this Hinduism, the Bali Aga embraces the agama Tirta or the ‘Holy-water religion’.
