In the novel, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, written by Ken Kesey, takes a place in a mental hospital. The narrator of the novel is Chief Bromden, the patients and institution staff assume that he is deaf and dumb. The patients in a mental hospital were controlled by Nurse Ratched who known as a Big Nurse. She is a cold and precise woman, and she is a head of the ward. Because Nurse Ratched put fear the patients’ heart, they obey her every demand. However, when the new patient McMurphy who comes from a prison work farm to the hospital, the Big Nurse Ratched starts to lose the power she has over the patients. At the end, the conflict between McMurphy and Nurse Ratched, cost McMurphy’s health, his freedom, and, finally, his life.   In the novel the obvious differences between two characters mostly shown in their personality, the way threading the people and their sexual view.  
First of all, Nurse Ratched and McMurphy have totally different personality and different point of view. Nurse Ratched being a control freak, wants to get all the power in the yard, and she does everything not to lose it. Also, she is a rule based person that she wants to do everything in according to rules and keeps them in strutted. McMurphy is complete contrast of Nurse Ratched. He is a con man and rebellious behavior. He chooses easy ways to survive his life. He is little lazy and live his life in spontaneous way. For example, McMurphy is transferred from a prison work farm to the hospital because he thinks instead of working in a farm, being in a mental hospital would be an easy way to serve out. Even McMurphy likes to break the rules, he is a people person and he smiles so much. He has definitely positive personality. His positive personality and his laughter put people in the ward in a good mode and help them remember smiling again. McMurphy believes that breaking the rules and not living like a robot, helps the patients to get better and help find their true selves back. Whereas...
