Breastfeeding or Formula…You decide
Among several decisions a woman must make while she is pregnant, one of them is whether or not she will choose to breastfeed her new bundle of joy. In the society we live in and this day in age this decision has become more of a choice rather then long ago when formula was nonexistent and the main way of nurturing your baby was to breastfeed. Woman in todays age are blind to the health risks and lack of bonding their babies may endure having not been breastfed. To add to that, many of the several formula companies tend to bend and obscure the truth and bribe the doctors into talking up/promoting their products. I am aiming to address and investigate the matters at hand by explaining why breastfeeding is the obvious and much better choice for every woman to choose.
As mentioned above, it is a matter of choice whether a mother wants to breastfeed or formula feed. Before the modern era, breastfeeding your infant was the normal and accepted manner of feeding an infant. If the mother was unable to breastfeed due to medical issues or did not produce enough milk for the newborn a wet nurse was normally carefully selected and brought into the house by the family so the infant would be able to get the nurturing and breast milk they needed. In those days it was considered extremely normal for this to occur. Wet nurses were chosen with the utmost care because it is critical that the baby get the essential nutrients he or she needed. If a wet nurse was not currently available then the next best alternative to choose from was either cows milk or goats milk, which now a days isn’t recommended until the age of one. However, as time progressed a new substitute of breast milk evolved. This substitute is know as formula and is widely used all over the world, and was created in lieu of breastfeeding.
