1. Why do you think that Starbucks has been so concerned with social responsibility in its overall corporate strategy? One reason is because Starbucks created Global Responsibility Department that is responsible for the annual report for the shareholders to track performances and also worries about the environment, employees, suppliers, customers, and the community it works in according to Business Ethics case study.   I think the reason that Starbucks has been concerned with social responsibility because since the cooperation started it has had an image they are still trying to keep up. There are other coffee shops around but they want their customers to choose Starbucks over their competitors. Another reason is because Starbucks has been giving back to the community by sending coffee to soldiers overseas. Starbucks is everywhere and people like to shop where they know the service is good. The book defines social responsibility as organizations obligations to maximize the positive impact on the stakeholders and to minimize the negative impact.
  2. Is Starbucks unique in being able to provide a high level of benefits to its employees? Business Ethics case study said Starbucks wanted to have the kind of company that offered the best health care program. They wanted a company that employees were proud to work for and to have a job they felt like they were a part of.
