Needs indicators include employment history, if any; positive and negative aspects of work history (such as job performance, absenteeism, unstable work record, having been fired, inability to earn sufficient salary to live on, having difficulty with co-workers and/or superiors), educational deficiencies (including intelligence, learning disabilities and vocational skills).
From the case study of Mr. Rose he states that he is employed at construction work. Although he claims to find it satisfying, he doesn’t seem to have any drive to progress in the field. He has been in the business for over ten years and yet has the same job. Also the fact that he mentions that he always finds friends “willing to cover for him” indicates a certain level of disinterest and lack of responsibility as regards his job. As for his education, though not explicitly mentioned, one can reasonably assume that he has not been to college or any other institution of higher learning. And from his criminal history it is also likely that he may not have completed high school. From the various statements he makes and how he expresses himself, he shows a lack of logical or critical thinking and doesn’t seem to comprehend situations from any other perspective than that he is being incriminated or judged unfairly. Of note however is his interest in cars. He claims that he regularly spends time at his friend’s garage working on cars and driving them.
