Social health needs
Social health needs relate to how children learn to interact with others and learn about what is acceptable behaviour around others in society. The child’s first interaction with human contact is their parents; this is known as primary socialisation. Then Secondary socialisation begins that is when a child is about 5 and has just started school where they can make new friends and they have many influences on them. Some ideas linked to social health needs are;

  * Play opportunities
  * Becomes more independent
  * Develops self-feeding skills  
  * Chooses own friends
  * Starts primary school
  * May join after school activities
  * Strongly desires independence

Adults role in social health needs  
Parents should have their children interacting with other kids, inviting friends from school back to their house for dinner after school and vice versa.   A play group for toddlers is a good setting for introducing small children to social skills and teaching them how to interact with others their own age. For children to learn how to act in a responsible way, they have to be given some sort of responsibility, and to encourage independence which will help them become a more confident and responsible person.

Emotional health needs
Good emotional health of children and young people is important to them as Individuals.it helps them express their emotions, Being emotionally healthy is essential in itself; it does not mean that the child is happy all the time, but it does mean having the ability to face the challenges that will be thrown at them through life. Some of the emotional health needs we have are;
  * Affection/love
  * Belonging
  * Independence
  * Achievement
  * Social approval
  * Self-esteem
