She stood on the front porch and used her key to open the door. The sun shone through the wall of windows in the living room and it blinded her for a moment. She was surprised at how much sun came in the house without curtains. She stepped into the foyer and heard the echo of her footstep. How hollow it sounded now with all the furniture gone she thought. She slid her keys into her pocket book and progressed into the kitchen. She put her pocketbook on the center island as she did so many times before. The place smells stale she thought as she looked around the kitchen. “I never saw it this clean” she said to herself.
“Well what’s first on the agenda”? She went back into the hallway and up the front stairs. She wanted to see if there was anything the movers forgot. She leaned heavily on the bannister taking those stairs were a real workout now. She was glad she didn’t have to walk up them anymore.
At the top of the stairs she looked at the wall. Interestingly how the heat makes the wall color change as she thought as she looked at where the mirror was hung. Boy is that dirty. I wonder if breathing that into our lungs can make you sick, she thought. Moving toward the master bedroom she walked past the hall bath room and peaked in. The white wainscoting was as fresh as the day they put it in. Well that held up, She said out loud.
