Critical Thinking W2
I chose Mykel Hawke as my critical thinker. Mykel is a U.S. Army Special Forces expert. He has over 20 years of government, military, and survival experience. He has served on Active Duty, Army reserves, and the National Guard. He was a Special Forces Medic, Special Forces Communicator, and Special Forces Operations and Intelligence Sergeant. He is now married to TV Presenter Ruth England and they star on a show called Man Woman Wild.
On Man Woman Wild, Mykel and Ruth take on some of the most remote locations in the world. They get dropped off in the location with only clothes and a knife and they have to survive as a team for four days and nights. Mykel’s thinking has made a change because on the show he shows you how to use the resources you have to survive. He explains many things such as how to tell which plants you are able to eat, how to hunt for food, how to build a shelter, and most importantly, how to survive. He also shows you how you can use the things around you to help you survive. He and his wife go through this together and he teaches her how to survive as well as the people who watch the show. Seeing and learning how he survives wherever he’s located at really makes you realize how good of a critical thinker he is. To be able to survive in a remote location, you have to be able to think on your feet and be able to do it quickly. He figures out many things that you can do to survive that I wouldn’t even be close to figuring out. Overall, he has used his survival training to survive in eight different war zones, steamy jungles, deserts, icecaps, oceans, and urban environments.
Some interesting things about Mykel Hawke are that he has mastered several languages and holds a Master’s degree. He is well schooled in combat search and rescue, guerilla warfare, counter terrorism, and security tactics. He also has black belts in aikido and judo and has a survival school known as SpecOps where he teaches...
