* As the author of this paper, my goal is to research, discuss, and define critical thinking. An additional intended goal is to share with my audience an example from my personal experience, in which I have used critical thinking in a work related decision. Critical thinking is a rich concept that has been developing throughout the past 2500 years. The term "critical thinking" has its roots in the mid-late 20th century (The Critical Thinking Community, 2009)
* A true critical thinker is able to make decisions at any given time by being able to put plans into effect efficiently. The definition or meaning of critical thinking is best described by that mode of thinking about any subject, content or problem in which the thinker improves the quality of his or her thinking by skillfully taking charge of the structures inherent in thinking and imposing intellectual standards upon them (The Critical Thinking Community, 2009). The decision-making process is difficult, but when using critical thinking all of the bases are covered. The situation is totally analyzed, the questions you have are answered, you may even make a hypothesis or two before a final decision is made. Ultimately you feel good about your decision in the end and I think that this is a great benefit of critical thinking.
