The current energy policy of the United States Energy policy is determined by the federal, state and local government entities. They have responsibility for addressing the issues related to the production of energy, distribution and consumption. The current energy policy contains legislations, international treaties, and incentives to investments and guidelines for energy conservation and public policies. There are three major Energy Policy Acts passed in 1992, 2005 and in 2007 (Vezirgiannidou, 2013). The policies have the provisions for energy conservation and development. The policy grants and taxes the incentives put in place for both renewable and nonrenewable energy sources. Forging comprehensive energy policy provides solutions through which the United States can escape from the pattern of recurring energy crisis. How has it changed in recent years? Energy policy is increasingly attracting public attention in the United States. The recent shortages in oil supply and escalating prices in the wake of Katrina Hurricane are additional to the widespread concerns about the energy situation in the United States. For instance, a month to the Katrina flooding, the Congress passed the Energy policy Act of 2005. This policy was a result of the year's intensive debate, which had started after the hiking of energy prices in 1999-2000. Since the end of Second World War, the United States has been through five major energy price hikes. Each of the hikes has consequently ended in the national debate, with appropriate national energy policy consequences. The Arab oil embargo of 1973 and increase in oil prices caused the initial worries about the energy crisis. The third and the fourth crisis appeared in 1990 and 2000, consecutively. The recent price hike is the doubling of the oil prices in 2004 to 2005. The Energy Policy Act passed in 2005 has the aim of establishing a comprehensive long-term energy policy....
