Dance Review Essay
I feel like the whole performing experience was very successful overall. I think every worked really hard to do their best in the show and I think everyone deserves positive things to be said about their performance. But at the same time everyone is not perfect and we all make mistakes. There were a few things that occurred prior, during, and after the dance performances that I would like to acknowledge.
Before the first show on Friday, December 14th, I don’t think a lot of us were really nonchalant when it came to rehearsing for the show because it wasn’t being recorder. But at the same time, I think we did better on the Friday show because we weren’t feeling pressured about the fact that we were being recorder so we were more relaxed before we went on stage and we weren’t worried about who is messing up and where should we be and all of the tiny things like that. After our performance for “Healing Waters”, we received a lot of good comments.
I was really happy to hear all of the wonderful things that a lot of people in the audience were saying about our performance. But I think these comments went to some of our heads. Some of the dancers in this piece felt as though they were too good to rehearse for the second show that occurred Saturday, December 14th, the next day.
I think the second show was a struggle and a lot of pressure for all of us and not just our class. For one, we didn’t have as much time to do much of anything before the show...
