Throughout my life I have been in close contact with people that are disabaled. I have learn that the disable are face with so many problems everyday of their lives. However disable people can go through life successfully. Disability is the condition which limits a person’s ability to function in major life activities – including communication, walking, and self-care. Disability breaks down to four stages mild moderate sever and profound. Mild stage is where a person has no difficulty with self care, mobility or communication, but uses aids or equipment. Moderate stage is when a person does not need assistance, but has difficulty with self care, mobility or communication. Severe stage is where a person sometimes needs assistance with self care, mobility or communication. Profound stage is when person is always needs assistance and is unable to perform self care, mobility or communication tasks.

With more than 55 million Americans having some sort of disability, the different types of disabilities and the conditions that cause them number in the thousands. There are three major types of disabilites such as Physical, Medical, and Learning. Physical disability are visual impairments or blindness, hearing loss or deafness, and amputation. Medical disability are diabetes, cancer, HIV + AIDS. Learning disability are Dyslexia, Autism and ADHD.

The Disabled receive many types of benefits such as SSI, SSDI, Public assistant, affordable health care, adequate housing and transportation. The Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program pays benefits to disabled adults and children who have limited income and resources. Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) provides benefits to the disabled who qualify on the basis of years of work covered by social security. Public Assistance, also known as Welfare, it provides monthly financial help to meet basic needs of food, shelter, and clothing.
