Cause and Effects of Divorce upon Children

The American dream for most young girls is to grow up and be married to Prince Charming and to “live happily ever after!”   Although expected, this is rarely what really happens.   Unfortunately after children and bills, life hands over to you stress and a lot of it.   Then people try to numb the stress and pain of fighting with adultery, drugs, and alcohol; however, these are all downers and of course lead to more problems, especially within a family household.   Eventually people give up on each other and get a divorce like they are driving through the drive through window at McDonalds about to order a Big Mac.   Little do some parents know exactly how their divorce is affecting their children, because they are so caught up about their own pain and personal issues.   It doesn’t matter the age of the children at the time of the divorce, because eventually it will hit them one day that their parents are not married like they promised each other when they exchanged their vowels on their wedding day.
There are a number of factors that tell why children in divorcing families may have difficulties aging and maturing in areas of life such as: loss of contact with a parent, fewer economic resources, more stress in all criteria of life, as well as poor parental discipline.   When these problems can be reduced or overcome, then children will be better off with consulting with divorce.   Until then there will be hurt and pain in all of these shattering families.   If people believed in their Bibles the way they did 100 years ago, then there would be less than half of the divorce percentages than there are today.   Half of all American children will witness the breakup of a parent’s marriage.
