I feel that driving a car is a very serious responsibility that requires a maturity level that is beyond the age of sixteen. Requiring the driving age to be eighteen instead of sixteen would allow for a more mature and responsible driver. It can also be less costly for the driver and the driver’s family.
One reason that an eighteen year old driver is safer is because they are less likely to give into peer pressure. For example, a sixteen year old would be more likely to “show off” in front of his peers. This can cause very dangerous driving which can result in serious consequences such as car accidents or harming someone, or even worse death.
In addition, an older driver is more mature and capable of the responsibility that comes with driving. A sixteen year old brain is not equipped to handle a lot of multitasking. When you are driving a car you can come upon lots of distractions. There are many distractions such as the radio or cell phone or other passengers. I believe with the brain being two years more mature you are able to focus more on the road, therefore making a safer driver, and making it safer for the other drivers on the road.

By the time they are eighteen you are better able to handle a job and school. Most sixteen year olds that work allow a job to influence their grades, causing issues in school that can affect the rest of their lives. I just feel that you can take on more once you are a legal eighteen year old.
In conclusion, I would like to say that I am well aware that the law defines when you can get a license. My choice is to wait until I am much older. When I hear of the accidents and deaths that are caused by many young teen drivers I know I am making a good choice. All youth mature at different levels, but waiting until eighteen is two more years to allow...
