Dear Elie Wiesel:

My name is Cody Roberson. The student body at Northwest High School has just finished your book “Night.” We were wondering if you are not too busy, if you would like to visit our school and talk about your experiences during the Holocaust. You have impacted many of our lives, in many different ways. You have given me a better perspective on what the Jews went through during the Holocaust. Hearing your story on how you had to go through 3 or 4 different camps and how you were forced to work and get tormented. I couldn’t imagine how you must have felt when you were split from your mom and sister. You have shown me and others of the student body to appreciate that we don’t have to ever go through what you have experienced. I think that meeting you face to face and hearing your message to the world would benefit Northwest in many ways. Our school would benefit from you coming here by it would decrease suspension rates. Here at Northwest suspension rates are high especially when it comes to the freshman. You coming will definitely open up their eyes and persuade them to do right. Discrimination is a key factor in why people are getting suspended, and I believe their wouldn’t be anyone better than your-self to talk about why discrimination is wrong. Northwest High school only has 25% of each graduating class to actually go to a 4 year college. I just really hope you will be able to help our school in these ways. The Nazis were wrong to treat Jews the way they did. They made it seem like the Germans were more superior then Jews. They had no right to send you and the rest of the Jews to them concentration camps. Nobody in their right mind could ever disserve what you and others went through in a lifetime.
