Elijah Matlock “To Kill a Mockingbird”
The first-person book “To Kill a Mockingbird” is a about a Girl talking about her life and the events that happened. The family lived in Maycomb Alabama; where there father was a lawyer, so money wasn’t really a problem. One summer, Jem and Scout meet a boy named Dill, who has come to live with his aunt for the summer. The kids became good friends and had the idea of getting Boo Radley to come out his house. The three of them became fascinated of Mr. Radley. They constantly kept acting out the story of Boo Radley. The house was originally owned by Mr. Nathan Radley, but his brother, Arthur (Boo) Radley, lived there for years without coming outside.
Dill comes back for the summer, and he, Scout, and Jem begin to act out the story of Boo Radley. The father tries to get the children to try to feel what the other is before judging them. On Dill’s last night in Maycomb they plan a trick, to go on the Radley’s property. Unfortunately the trick didn’t turn out so good. Nathan Radley shoots at them. Jem loses his pants while they were trying to escape. Shortly, a fire happened, and during the fire someone slips a blanket on Scout’s shoulders as she watches the flames. Jem tells their father about the torn pants and the presents they were receiving in the knothole of the tree on Mr. Radley’s property.
Amongst all the problems they faced in Maycomb racisms was present. Atticus (father) agrees to defend a black man who was said to have raped a white woman. Due to his decision; Jem and Scout were likely to get beat up. The black cook Calpurnia sometimes took the kids to the the local black church, where the community accepted them. While Tom Robinson was in jail, waiting for his trial, Mobs gather to Lynch him. Atticus comes and faces the mob before the trial; and Jem and Scout sneak out of their house soon to meet up with their father. On the other hand...
