Teacher Guide 1-Basics of C 2 Hours
The chapter begins with a list of objectives for the entire module and describes what the student will achieve after completion of the course. The chapter then introduces the students to the C programming language. It also discusses algorithms and flowcharts; using these, the students will be able to develop the logic underlying the program.
The objectives of the chapter are:
➢ Differentiate between Command, Program and Software
➢ Explain the beginning of C
➢ Explain when and why is C used
➢ Discuss the C program structure
➢ Discuss algorithms
➢ Draw flowcharts
➢ List the symbols used in flowcharts
The students may find difficulty in understanding the following topics:
▪ Pseudo codes
Hence, the above mentioned topics should be handled carefully.
The teacher should be well versed in Programming concepts and logic building for teaching this chapter. The chapter is to be taught in a T Format. The teacher will teach the concepts in the theory class and he/she can use the programs that are given in the chapter to support the concepts. For teaching in the class the teacher is expected to use slides and LCD projectors (details of this is given in Detail Content section).
After the student has acquired the prerequisite knowledge from the chapter he/she can try out the problems given in the Do It Yourself section in the lab that follows the next theory session.
Max Time-2 Minutes
Subject: The teacher should list out the objectives as given in the slide and inform the students what they would be learning in the chapter.
Max Time-5 Minutes
Subject: The focus of this section is to make the students understand the difference between software, program and instruction. Explain the difference as given in the student guide with the example. Emphasize that software is...
