Assessing The McLeod family (1200 words)
The McLeod’s are a middle class family living in a town house complex. Presenting Concern is
Jimmy, aged 7 years old the youngest sibling to Mr. and Mrs. McLeod. Jimmy displays many behavior
problems, these include terrorizing other children in the complex before and after school. Jimmy’s
physical behavior is also apparent at school where he has been known to beat up another child in
the school playground. Parents Malcolm McLeod, 44 years old mother Patricia McLeod, 43 years old,
other siblings in the family unit Roderick, aged 19 years old, Douglas, 14 years old.
Mr. McLeod is currently employed with an insurance agency; his position is one of middle-management
Before the birth of Jimmy Mrs. McLeod was employed as a registered nurse she accidently fell
pregnant with Jimmy, and has not work since.
The McLeod’s did not intend to have any more children after the birth of their two oldest sons.
3 years ago the McLeod’s separated for appropriately 6 months this, since then they have
reconciled their differences.
Additional information Mrs. Moffat a concerned neighbor of the McLeod’s made the initial phone call
to child safety authorities.
Before meeting the McLeod family I would review the initial interview between the family and child
safety authorities. After assessing the case details I would contact Mr. Mrs. McLeod
for a meeting that is convenient for all members to attend. After discussion with the McLeod family
an appointment was decided after hours in my office for the whole family to participate.
