Ethical and Moral Issues Paper

In today’s society sometimes issues arise in the business world of ethics and morals. One question that may arise is ethics and morals the same? If not, then what makes the two issues different? In this paper these two issues will be discussed and the difference between ethics and morals. Ethics can also be broken down to personal ethics and business ethics. The difference between personal and business ethics will also be discussed in the paper.
To get started, “Are ethics and morals the same?” The answer to this question is no they are not the same. Something may be ethical or legal but may be in conflict with one personal moral. An example of this can be in legal profession where an attorney is ethically bound to represent his client to the best of his ability even though the attorney may not agree with the morality of his client. The attorney has to set aside his moral beliefs to make sure his client is well represented which may not always happen in some cases. Another example can be marriage counselors who counsels couples after one may have issues with infidelity. The counselor has an ethical guideline that may conflict with morals. In business there may be different ethical issues that the company may not enforce such as dating fellow employees, taking or giving gifts on the job, etc., everyday situations that could become problematic.
