Capstone Check point
Every week in this course we studied a different culture and I learned something new to help me better relate and understand people and their culture. In week 5 we learned about Muslim and Arab Americans, which I feel, are the most misunderstood in society. I would say I learned the most about this culture and their religion, because the media has this culture thought to be terrorist and categorized as one group. After reading further into this culture this couldn’t be further from the truth, now that I’ve researched I feel confident to teach others who believe the media lies about their culture, values, and what they actually bring to America. I learned that in Americans history immigrants basically made up America they came from all over, so I still wonder why are Americans so harsh about people from different countries immigrating to America today. As immigrants continue to shape America I think in 2050 America will be made up of almost all immigrants and less and less American born. To change the way Americans think about race and ethnicity we need to start educating are adults, but more importantly teach are children from example and in school about different cultures so they are educated about all people and their heritage. This will stop the raciness and teach our children the truth about all people so they can live together and respect each other in society.
