Evaluating the Research Process
There are several factors to consider when evaluating the research process of an article. How is the literature review used in the research, what are the ethical considerations for data collection, are the findings statistically significant, does the conclusion answer the research question and match the results of the study? This paper will evaluate the research process in the article “Physicians’ Attitudes Toward Reporting Medical Errors – An Observational Study at a General Hospital in Saudi Arabia”. There has been concern with proper reporting of medical errors in hospitals. One way to reduce the frequency of medical errors and unfavorable outcomes is to encourage reporting of inaccuracies and identifying the reasons with aim of using the error as an educational exercise and quality improvement tool (Alsafi, 2011, p. 144).  
According to Harvard Graduate School of Education (2015), a literature review is an assessment of a body of research that addresses a research question. The literature review in this article addresses the importance of medical error reporting in regards to patient safety and the physician’s rationalization as to why they do not report. There were six sections of the study; demographic data, information about medical error reporting practice of the respondents as well as what they think are the hurdles and drivers of medical error reporting, the impact on medical reporting rates of organizational culture, leadership, and approach to and procedure of handling medical error reporting and its consequences (Alsafi, 2011, p. 144). The fourth and fifth sections deal with the perceived causes for the occurrence and frequency of medical errors, respectively.
