ASSIGNMENT 2- Evaluation of the learner’s spoken language
I was required to observe a class. The aspects I had to focus on were the English Language ability of the class as a whole. My objective was to observe if they were using the language appropriately and to identify which aspects of the language development the class needs to focus on.
To give evidence of my judgment I am presenting a set of examples I was able to collect during the lesson. Some of them were accurate and some of them not, so I will try to analyze each of my examples and give you the information I used to evaluate them.
Description of the class
First of all I would like to give a description of the class. It is formed by five young adults (three women, and two men) All of them executives and working for an American company.
Their English level is B1 and their main goal is to practice their oral skills by having a conversation about different topics twice a week, besides their regular lessons which they take early in the morning.
The topic of this class was “Remembering our childhood” and they would evoke different kinds of memories to practice the use of simple past and present perfect.
Description of the context and environment
The class was in a meeting room, it is comfortable and nice, but it doesn’t have any resources for the teacher.
All the students are sitting around a table. They look tired but keen on taking the class.

The class started with a question from the teacher. “What are we talking about today?” “I hope good memories…nevertheless if you feel in the mood to tell us about some traumas or sad memories, it will be fine.” The class laughed.
