The first game of football was played on November 6, 1869. Since then football has grown widely, it spread across the United States rapidly. The history of football doesn’t do it justice to its level of importance to our culture.
American Football first began at Massasoit House Conventions in Massachusetts during the nineteenth century. The sport first began when player William Ebb Ellis began picking up the soccer ball and running with it during soccer practice. Modifications were made to the game of soccer by Coach Walter Camp. He began designing a game called American Football that included a mix between American Soccer and Rugby. The sport has changed from the game of soccer, with the added modifications of eleven people on the field for each team at a time, forward pass and the positions of quarterback and center. Tackling as low as the knee was first permitted in 1888 than it built up from there, as men got more passing more tackling was allowed. The actual material to make the football has also evolved and changed throughout the years. Football equipment evolved to simpler but more effective designs, equipment fit more comfortably but worked better.
Football must be played with knowledge and flow of the game. There are eleven players on the field. Fulfilling the positions of quarterback, center, running back, fullback, wide receiver, tight end, left and right guard, and left and right tackle. All players on the field played a different role. The quarterback is the leader of the team, he instructs them in the huddle and starts the play. The center is the player who snaps the ball to the quarterback, this player handles the ball every single play. The running back is the player who runs the football, usually from a handoff from the quarterback. The fullback blocks and protects both the running back and the quarterback.
