After finishing this book, I feel that the author was using it as an experiment. For example, it took women’s role in society and made a new world governed by women. It also showed that if women run things based of motherhood, they would obtain knowledge and intelligence in creating the so called perfect world. In this world they developed how communities feed off each other and that women alone, even with male dominance present, proved that it was not a community based on individual status. In turn it showed how a middleclass environment could function healthy by putting its focus on the citizens in need. Another great concept was how they put education first and believed that it was the answer in creating a reasonable society. However, I was stunned about the fact that women of this land had the strength to fight of their husband’s pertaining to sex. But I guess Terry who I have found to be a disappointment and a waste of knowledge disobeyed the true meaning of Herland. After his actions I am surprised that he did stay jacked up on anesthesia and forced to serve out some prison sentence at the fortress located along the cliff line of rocks. Although, he was a bit forceful he was lucky to be alive in my opinion. I thought his actions were on human nature and the fact that it was legal in the men’s country. But it doesn’t make it right at all. On a lighter note I have found that these women developed alot of new qualities from the men and were glad to see that Jeff and Ceils followed the golden road in the making of human development by creating a child of their own. Preserving the young ones through education was the key and having a child created a climax to its plot.
