" Sixteen hours ago and American Airplane dropped a bomb on Hiroshima having more power than 20,00 tons of T.N.T." (Truman) The City was destroyed completely however John Hersey was the man to inform the human race about the effect of the "Atomic Bomb" on Hiroshima after it was hit. He lets us know about the six characters that survived the bombing in his book, as they struggle to survive the destruction of   bomb. "The effect of war on humans and the city" (Hersey) showed us that everyone was effected by the bomb and the war. He tells us how "life is frailty" (Hersey) for the bodies of the survivors still suffering after the missile hit Hiroshima.


The effects of the war on Hiroshima were in numerous ways. It was as if   it seem that everyone was effected by the bomb and the war. Even though the bomb was dropped on the Japanese it also affected other Countries. It is portrayal of the human spirit and the will to keep on living even in the face destruction . Survival was how life slowly returns to normal for most people and shows how each human chooses to rebuild their own lives. "Hiroshima as a city" (Hersey) are examples of the human characters trying to survive day by day. "Reconstruction of building" (Hersey) begins almost immediately, this gave the human race the indelible energy to keep on living.


John Hersey interviews each character in a journalistic fashion. He combines their stories together without adding his moral judgment to it. This allows you to hear their stories as if it came from their own mouths. With this style of writing he informs us with facts and basic writing on what really   happen in Hiroshima. the reason he   writes the book in this way is so nobody will forget what happened on that fateful day at Hiroshima
