Homophobia in China

Homosexuality is romantic or sexual attraction or behavior between members of the same sex or gender. Homosexual people are nowadays become more and more around the world. However, in the past people were not accepted homosexual. From the movie “Milk”, the main character Harvey Milk was lead people to fight revolution for the homoerotism. At this point, homophobia is a word that shows people cannot approve homosexuality. In China, the feudal society was very serious about gay people. We actually do not see many Chinese homosexual because it was against law and people were afraid of if others found they were homosexual, and they will be judged. As the era was changes a lot, since people were fighting to the law for homosexuality. China has slowly began to learn about homosexuality, but still the situation of homosexual people in China now are not like American and other gay free country because of the homophobia which is some left thinking from the feudal society.

In the feudal society of China, human rights are not equal. A typical example would be inequality between men and women. In this society homosexuality is even more serious like crime. Chinese people were trained to be very care about filial piety, and the most important thing in filial piety is to have a baby, so their family will be keep going. Therefore homosexual was a kind of impossible thing to have in the past of China. This opinion influenced people until now, people are still unable to fully accept homosexual.  

Today, the replacement of the generation is happening in China. New thoughts and new idea of the homosexuals are comes up. We can see many gay people want to be show on the surface. They don’t feel embarrassed anymore especially girl homosexual. It comes from a few popular elements which extend to the sexual orientation problem.
