INFORMATION ON TELEMEDICINE
Telemedicine, also known as “telehealth” or “e-health”, is a method or process used to enable healthcare professionals evaluate, diagnose or treat patients. These processes are done through telecommunication technology. Telecommunication technology is a technology involving all kinds of computers plus some telephones all done with information between two partners exchanged with information between accommodated to the patient in distant locations.
Telemedicine is a medical practice that is used in countries and distant locations where travel is not convenient and sometimes impossible due to the location and the doctor’s availability to travel can be unavailable.
Images, data, and sound can be transmitted through telecommunications. This technology has enabled doctors to converse and exchange much needed advice to other doctors. Through telecommunications, a treatment plan can be set up and doctors that need specialists can be walked through what needs to be done with the patient, depending on the severity of the medical situation at hand.
With telemedicine technologies, a physician-patient relationship can be established and they can have a mutual understanding of the shared responsibilities between the doctor and the patient. The welfare of the patient will come first and the benefit of telecommunications will have certain standards that has to be followed in order for the doctor to be able to converse with the patient. The confidentiality will be put into full force as the telecommunications will seem like its live, even though it is done with the telecommunication via the internet which will be done via satellite.
With telemedicine, there will be a much larger work load for the staff involved and much more responsibility, because it is a commitment that has to be made when the process starts.
