When social networks on the internet such as facebook were first created, The main purpose was to facilitate communication among students. After a while other social groups began to join these services and it was impossible to control who was participating. The last decade or so has seen a major rise in social media networks over the internet (such as facebook and twitter). These media networks bring people together according to their activities, age groups, hobbies, and interests. This has had a major impact on the fashion marketing industry more than we could have dreamed possible. The increase in internet marketing has greatly changed the way the fashion industry interacts with the consumer in the following ways. First, we longer need to rely on advertising alone to judge the quality of a product. The consumer can confirm the quality of a product from his or her social peers within minutes without actually having to visit the store. This means that I can quickly and cheaply get an opinion on a certain brand from people of like minds and tastes. Additionally, within the social web the customer has become the advertiser due to the ease with which we can transmit pictures and words. When a new fashion product emerges, it's much easier for the consumers to actively share information and opinion on a particular product. These social networks have overtaken the audience capacity of radio, newspapers, and television at an alarming rate. A recent survey showed us that 30% of young adults consulted the internet in order to discuss a particular fashion brand. The research showed us that these young people believe that their opinions about fashion brands are important and the majority associate themselves with favorite brands. In the traditional way of advertising fashion in the media, the customer had no way to contribute any message or content concerning a particular product.
