First of all my major is related with medicine, I would like to become a
surgeon. I interview two people that where related to classes I will have to take and also
related with medicine. The first one was EMT firefighter; this experience was really cool
, in my point of view the firefighters and EMT’s working in the fire station that day; they
all got nervous and I draught their attention because when I got out of the car and ask
I could interview an EMT , all of them stop doing their duties and came inside.
EMT: Course: firefighter course 1 and paramedic courses .
Duties: Check the trucks, clean them , clean equipment, run calls, emails
Overtime: Its required. They work 2 days and rest for 3 days .
Challenges: The biggest challenge they could have is running a medical call with 6 people in the scene.
Advices: Able to handle scenes, see a lot of things; blood, injuries, accidents, death.
They describe me that the hardest thing in the job for them is the family because they spend a lot of time without their families and they get worried about how they are and vise versa.
Characteristics: Gratification when you help people, they are always ready for an emergency, they always have to think outside the box, and also they have to be in shape physically and mentally.
Name of the person I interview: Joe, he had 7 years of experience , he is an EMT firefighter and work in the fire station in pleasant hill rd.
My second person I interview was an actual surgeon, he is a Laparoscopic
surgeon ; laparoscopic is a small incision thru a small tube to examine the
abdominal area. This interview was really exited because I actually got to see a small
incision , when I entered to the Celebration Hospital I got confused because I was
looking for the surgical room but once I got there I looked around I got so familiarize
with the bored that tells the surgeons and nurses...
