Without Data, It’s Only an Opinion: They Say Stats are for Losers, A School Improvement Plan.
If stats (data) are for Loser, then why do we make a big deal about keeping them? Data (stats) is a collection of facts, such as values or measurements. It can be numbers, words, measurements, observations or even just descriptions of things. Data can be qualitative or quantitative. Qualitative data is descriptive information (it describes something)
Quantitative data is numerical information (numbers). Data tells us where we are going. What we have accomplished and more importantly what we need to improve on, our weakness and short coming. Our School Improvement Plan is base on the data that has been collected analyzed and this is the plan was developed to right our ship.
The mission and vision of this Plan-Do-Study-Act is to be the “Premier” school in the state if not the country. The plan or mission of Elizabeth Andrews High School is to raise the standards and increase academic achievement for all students through a rigorous educational curriculum supported by collaborative stakeholders’ effort. During the 2008-2009 school year stakeholders reviewed data from the Annual Year Performance (AYP) Reports, GHSGT, EOCT, DCSS,OSI GAPSS Analysis and benchmarks results. The plan was to hold collaborative meetings within the departments, faculty meetings and with the administrations. Learning should be achieved through meaningful instruction and address different learning styles, such as hands on activities and field trips so that students will be excited about learning and teachers will be excited about teaching, while focusing on measurable objectives and curriculum standards...
