Returning back to school after five years has been anything, but easy. It has also become a journey, that I wouldn’t change for the world. It has made me the type of person I am today. My dream was to graduate high school go to college, become a nurse and get married and start a family. During my second semester of college in 2006, my life took another path. It has been a path with many hurdles and sharp turns. These times of good and bad which indured is what inspired me to return to school to fulfill my dream.
While marriage and divorce statistics state that, on the whole, at least fifty marriages out of the one hundred have already broken up in the United States alone. I wanted to be anything, but another statistic. So when I became pregnant with my son, my boyfriend of five years and I, decided we were in love and wanted to complete our family and get married. While I was in love with the fact of starting my own family, my boyfriend and I decided it was best I take a break from school. While I was putting my dream of going to college on hold, I made promises to friends and family I would return after I had given birth. My boyfriend and I got married December 6, 2006. We had an average wedding and reception with friends and family. Following shortly after I gave birth on May 5th, 2007, to a healthy baby boy. Most people say the first year of marriage is the toughest. They are completely right. With the stress of money, becoming parents and life in general, our marriage only lasted a year and a half. We both decided we were in love with the fact of starting a family, and not with each other.
Further more after our divorce, I had to try and move on to start a better life for me and my son. First step to making a better life for my son, I decided to move in with my grandma. The thought of going back to college was always in the back of my mind, I knew that this time in my life school would have to be put on the back...
