Graduation, Inheritance and Other Lessons
This story mainly focuses on two people – a young woman by the name of Bettie and her father. She had just graduated from college and was prepared to finally receive the diploma she`s worked so long for. I felt a personal connection through this because I, too, had recently graduated. Not from college, but from elementary school. The reason why I had chose this story is because I feel that I can relate to her sense of pride and accomplishment. The pride she had as she was holding the diploma in her hand was the exact same as mine when I received my certificate of `completion.` It made me think about and treasure the hard work I endured throughout the past ten years. Those ten years are now behind me. But, they were filled to the brim with wonderful memories. Memories that will most likely stick with me until the day I die.
Going through elementary has also taught me many of the life lessons that could possibly change my life for the better – or vice versa. Other than that, I can distinctly remember walking down the aisle with my fellow classmates and thinking `I`ve made it. When this night is over, I`ve officially gotten the seal of approval to move on to the next challenge – high school. ` That I was now going to be responsible for what my future holds. The marks I get over the next four years are going to determine whether I get to go above and beyond to university, or, to an average college. I needed to get myself intact and finally realize that high school is difficult. There isn`t going to be someone over my shoulder telling me what to do anymore. I`m now capable to do what I`m supposed to do and take full responsibility for what the income will be at the end of my high school journey.
