Cell phones are a very convenient way of communicating while also being a very useful tool in education and business.   Instead of viewing the device in a negative light, it could give the education field better tools to work with.   Responsibility of utilizing this tool in a school setting would have to be outlined for the students so that there’s no miscommunication on the rules.   Once this is established, we can focus on the positive points of learning with this tool. Currently in the school system, websites are used to confirm homework and grades. The student can check on the due dates of their homework.   Also, the teacher can text and or email test reminders.   Some of the software companies can tailor the software for the cell phone industry to help with education. While some teachers might not understand how to utilize cell phones for educational purposes, they could go for training on how to use this.  
With technology moving as fast as it does, there could be a point of using a cell phone as a personal computer.   Email is also another tool used by teachers to communicate with students.   For example,   the iPhone device made by Apple; this device can add a keyboard by Bluetooth, and maybe sometime in the future, we will be able to type essays on mobile phones without having to bring a laptop or desktop computer.   This would revolutionize the market while helping educators.   The negatives of using cell phones in education can be using the device for texting with friends or browsing the web in class.   For this, there would be guidelines in place to rectify this issue.   At one time, education was confined to four walls.
