" Michealangelo’s Life and Famous Works”
If you are somewhat educated, or addicted to kids cartoon shows, you have heard the name of Michelangelo before. No, not the teenage turtle, but the master artist, a father of the Renaissnce, who is the most famous and well-known artist in the world to this date. His works of art that he created before he was even the age of 30 years old are amongst the most famous works of art crafted to this day. From his work that spans from statues, paintings, and even architecture, Michelangelo is considered to be the most talented artist in the world.
Michelangelo Buonarroti was born to a family that had once been amongst the noble class in the city of Florence, Italy, but at the time Michelangelo was born, his family had lost most of its noble status. His father, who had previously been a banker, worked occasional jobs for the government until becoming a full time administrator. Before his family settled down in Florence after his father briefly moved out of the great city, Michelangelo lived some with a stonecutter when he was just six years old, picking up a talent of making figurines in stone and marble (Brittanica 1).
When Michelangelo went into the profession of art, it was considered to be a huge downgrade from the work of his father, however at the time no one must have suspected what young Michelangelo would become. At age 13, he began his apprenticeship, which back then was how people learned how to perform their jobs they chose for a profession. Michelangelo became an apprentice under the painter Domenico Ghirlandaio, who was famous in the city of Florence. After one year of his apprenticeship, Michelangelo left having had “nothing more to learn” as stated by Ghirladaio (Britannica 1). Michelangelo was soon taken up by the famous Lorenzo de Meddici, the ruler of the city of Florence who brought about the renaissance, the great rebirth of art and culture into the world.
