A student planning to attend a local university in the fall has been told to purchase word processing software for an English class. He is currently looking to buy word but wants to know the major functions for the software.
I would first start by explaining to the student what word processing is. Word processing software or a word processor is first of all used to create documents. This processing program gives you the ability to edit, print and even publish your documents that even includes HTML, rich text and plain text but also gives you access to other types of documents.
Once I am finished explaining to the student the purpose of a word processing program I would proceed to explain the many functions of Microsoft Word and the many things it has to offer. The program Microsoft Word has options, which allow the user to be able to copy, cut and also paste within their document. Microsoft Word even provides the end-user the option to add objects, pictures and even images into your document. In Microsoft Word the program offers clip art images, which you can choose, or you can add any image you would like to use in your document. Also, some other options that are offered is find, replace and search words within your document by using some of the many tools that are available within the toolbar/ribbon which is always located at the top of your documents. There are some favorite tools and the one I think is the best is the fact that Microsoft Word has a built in Thesaurus, this you can locate by clicking on the review tab. What the thesaurus does is help you find synonyms for a word you need to look up.
