Learning about your motivation, attitudes and interests
How do you get and stay motivated?
One of the best ways to become motivated is to set yourself some goals. Don’t just say I want an “A”. Try to actually learn for your benefit not for the grade it’s self. People tend to be unrealistic with their goals so make sure not to set yourself up for failure. Try setting short terms goals so that you can see your progress. Lastly make public what your goals are. When people make public their plan, it puts a bit of pressure to get it done. To stay motivated try making checkpoints; kind of like your short term goals to see where you stand. Study your most difficult courses first so that you will still have the energy to study the subjects that interest you the most. Remember to always take breaks and if you get bored try switching to a new subject.
How can you maintain a positive attitude?
Stay focused on what got you to college. Don’t let anything get in the way of your positive attitude. Maybe try counting to ten. Save your energy and put it towards studying. If you make a mistake don’t dwell on it just move on. Don’t be negative instead of thinking how horrible you are at history bring out the positive and think how what a great learner you are. Start each course with a great attitude and give that subject and teacher a chance.
