Food is definitely one of the contributing factor for our overall well being. However when this factor becomes a scaring fact for the , with the enormous food simply transforming into stored fat resulting in excessive weight gain, we become Obese and are struck by Obesity. The accumulation of excessive fat in the human body is termed as Obesity. Regarded a s a chronic disease, many long term health effects are associated with Obesity. Obesity is basically defined, having body mass index(BMI) greater than 30. BMI is measured by the weight relative to the height.

Factors contributing to Obesity:
Gaining weight ,occurs when we accumulate more calories than necessary . When we have more calories, the excess is converted to fat, which tends to increase but when no more expansion is possible, the fat cells multiplies in number. So after this even if there is weight loss, the fat cell size decreases but cell number remains the same. The factors contributing to Obesity are, age, genes, and sex ,mental makeup, and environmental factors.

Besides the above reasons, some other medications too can propagate Obesity, however these are less compared to the common Obesity causes like over eating and inactivity. Obesity can be also connected with eating disorders, like binge eating or bulimia.
