Odd Future, also known as OFWGKTA, OF, Wolf Gang, Golf Wang, and Loiter Squad, is a group of talented musicians struggling in the music industry as any other musician in this generation. Their style of music is “Indie Rap” and “R&B”. They consist of 13 different members, and 6 sub-groups that all have their own music.
Odd Future formed around 2006-2007, in Los Angeles. The first members were; Tyler, The Creator, Left Brain, Hodgy Beats, Matt Martians, Jasper Dolphin, and Casey Veggies. They always recorded their music at Taco’s House, also known as “the Trap”. At one point, a rapper named brandUn DeShay collaborated with the group and appeared on the track “Session” but Tyler and DeShay had a disagreement on the vocals, and DeShay was replaced by Mike G. Later on, Tyler released his first hit, “Yonkers”, which dissed DeShay.
2009-2010 had many new members for OF, such as; Domo Genesis, Earl Sweatshirt, Mike G, Frank Ocean, Taco, and Syd tha Kyd. After Earl Sweatshirt released his debut album “Earl”, he was absent from the group when he was 16 years old, but returned when he was 18. He later said in an interview that he attended a therapeutic retreat school for at-risk boys situated outside the Samoan capital of Apia called Coral Reef Academy, because he “was getting himself into trouble”. The group completed a two-stop tour, their first outside Los Angeles. They had a stop in London, England, on November 5th, 2010, and in New York City on November 8th. The concert at The Drop in London sold out within 48 hours of the announcement by the group. The highly
anticipated show at Webster Hall in New York City, the venue was packed to its 300-person maximum capacity. Their concerts have frequently been compared to punk rock shows, with stagediving, moshing, and antagonizing the crowd.
