The birth of a baby is usually a joyful occasion, moreover, the arrival of the 7 billionth person was awaited with growing trepidation. The worry was that if growth of babies continued at such a pace, it would be a crushing burden to both society and the environment. Overpopulation has been one of the most discussed issues for the last decades, moreover, such tremendous number of population made people more alarmed. Due to the increasing number of population in the world governments should take urgent measures to solve this problem.
        Overpopulation is an issue that a society faces all over the world. Human population has drastically increased due to significant advances in science, medicine and education and this drastic increase is likely to have adverse effects on planet and society. During the twentieth century the number of people in the world almost quadrupled from one billion to seven billion. It is predicted that by the year 2100 the population could reach twelve billion. (Robert, 2000). There are numerous effects that this problem presents to people daily. The growing number of inhabitants puts demands on limited necessities such as the food supply, natural resources and the ability of people to a job. There are other detrimental consequences that result from the issue of overpopulations, such as pollution, famine, disease, traffic congestion and global warming. Although many people are unaware of the destruction that is taking place, some efforts are being made to notify the public of the current issue. At the same time not every human beings consider it to be a great problem. However, the evidences show that consequences of overpopulation are horrible indeed. The number of deaths related to famine and disease will continue to soar because a great pressure on manufacturing the integrity of ecosystem is being placed on land, water, energy and resources to provide an adequate supply of food.
