We, Filipinos, are said to be one of the most nationalistic and patriotic people. In our Philippine history, there are so many Filipinos who gave up their lives for the country's freedom against foreign oppression. Jose Rizal, Lapu-Lapu, Apolinario Mabini, Emilio Aguinaldo, Gabriela Silang and Andres Bonificacio are just some Filipino heroes who stood up for our beloved country. They fought with their bolos, charging into war sometimes even if they were unprepared. The rest reached out through the pen. They wrote the truth about what was going on in the Philippines which sparked the Filipinos' thirst for freedom and they boldly faced the Spaniards with their shield that was patriotism. Our love for our country is a common trait to us Filipinos. But one thing that can clearly show our nationalistic side is our Filipino values such as patriotism, unity, equality and respect for law and government.
III. Statement of Learning in Values
As stated in the Introduction, we, Filipinos, are patriotic people. We would do anything just to protect our nation. Some Filipinos that really are example of patriotism are our armies who are very much willing to sacrifice their own lives to protect our nation.
Another thing that would show our love for our country is unity among people. The nation cannot stand alone without the unity of its countrymen. We, Filipinos, have this trait if bayanihan, a trait that shows the unity among people. We don’t only serve the nation but also our neighbors.
Lastly, Filipinos, being in a democratic country shouts for equality. We want to have equal rights for the rich and the poor and equal benefits from the government. We say that in our country, no one is above the law. Even if you are in the highest position, once you commit a sin you would still receive corresponding punishment.
