Welcome to seventh grade math! This letter will contain almost everything you want to know regarding my class including policies, procedures, and required supplies (please see below). Please review this letter with your child, and sign the bottom along with your child. This letter must be returned to me at the next class session, as it counts as your child’s first homework assignment. Again, welcome to seventh grade math, and I look forward to meeting and working with you in order to guarantee your child’s success.
Please see the Norfolk Public Schools’ Code of Conduct to review the attendance policy. Northside Middle School does conduct random hall sweeps in which the dean serves consequences for tardiness. Students who are late to class three times per quarter, not including hall sweep days, will receive a conduct notice.
Students are responsible for turning assignments in on time. If a student is absent, they should retrieve their missed assignments from the “Were You Absent?” bin and return the work within 10 days. Please keep in mind that it is the student’s responsibility to get their make-up work from the bin. Assignments count accordingly:
Tests 40% Homework/ Classroom Participation 10%
Quizzes 20% Projects/Performance Assessments 15%
Students will have math homework almost every night. Students should leave their math textbook at home unless otherwise instructed. Students will need a two-pocket pronged folder in which to keep their homework. Students will be expected to copy their homework as soon as they enter the classroom. Homework should be placed in the front pocket of the folder for grading the next day. (Please do not have your child place their homework in the pronged section of the folder. That section will be for their math review. In addition, the back pocket will be for graded papers.)...
