My Values Matter
“All these things my hand has made,
and so all these things came to be,
declares the Lord.
But this is the one to whom I will look:
he who is humble and contrite in spirit
and trembles at my word.”
This is our starting place. Scripture is the only authoritative standard for our lives - not experts, or experience or feelings. The only place that shows us how to glorify and enjoy God is Scripture. The only written revelation of God is found in the 66 books of the Bible. This Word is our standard. It measures us in everything we think, say and do. God esteems those who tremble at His word, and we want to be a church that is esteemed by God. With this human acts are formed; human acts may be moral or immoral. It is in our hands what we have to do that makes it morally right and by that in everything we do represents the Lord.
In this lesson I learned in our discussion that there are six core moral values that each and every mankind has to develop: love of God, love of truth, respect for life, respect for authority, respect for human sexuality and responsible dominion over material things. These values pertain to the self, others and God. This lesson has guided me in developing these six core moral values. Well not that fast but at least in progress. I learned also that if we examine ourselves; the morality of our humane acts- this may help us strengthen our moral foundation.
My Discernment of Right and Wrong
"By all means use your judgment, and hold on to whatever is good." 1 Thessalonians 5:21
The scripture says that judgment is one of man’s precious knowledge from knowing what this is from that. We should use that judgment by determining what is good from what is not.
