I pushed my grocery cart into the ten item only express lane. I counted the people in the line in front of me. This was obviously going to be quite a wait. I glanced to the magazine rack beside me…Ms., …Working Woman,…Savvy,…Modern Woman,…every magazine I glanced at appeared feminist. What is the world coming to? What is the female race trying to prove? Why can’t women just admit they aren’t men and are never going to be? The line continued to move. Slowly I took a look at the people in front of me; an older man buying milk and cereal, a teenager buying cigarettes and cornchips, a businessman buying beer, cheese and crackers; and a woman in her mid-twenties attired in a business suit and running shoes purchasing a frozen dinner, yogurt, and one of those feminist magazines. This particular woman was causing the hold-up; she was arguing with the cashier over the coupon policy!
      Finally my turn came and I placed my items on the moving belt. “This will make a great dinner for Chase”, I thought to myself. The cashier rang the total…$12.40, “Great”, I thought to myself   because Chase had only given me $15.00 to buy groceries for tonight. I left the grocery store with much anticipation. I could hardly wait to surprise chase when he came home. I unlocked the door to our small apartment. I walked into the nursery and placed Ian-Cole in his crib for his nap. I walked back into the living room and began to wonder what I might do until 5:00. I had already cleaned the apartment, done the laundry, and sent out the thank-yous for the shower gifts. I couldn’t wait for chase to get home. Maybe I should go and surprise him at the studio. After all, he had forgotten the lunch I had packed for him this morning.
      I quickly showered and put on the dress he loved. I dressed Ian-Cole and out the door we headed. The walk across town seemed eternal. I stopped at the bakery and picked up his favorite cookies to go with his lunch. The streets were so isolated. Where was everyone?...
