Are characteristics are formed from a various range of thing, including our likes and dislikes, the people we associate with, the area and country we grew up in and what we believe and have been taught. Belonging is essential to men, we connect and want to surround our selves with groups and individuals that have similar characteristics, believes and views in life. Because of the range of things that make up our characteristics it is obvious that through ones character aspects of belonging can be reflected. In Romulus my father Romulus is able to face this own difficult circumstances by inheriting the understanding of the character of the nature of human. Understanding that it is human nature to suffer and to go through hardship helped Romulus deal with it and to realise the whole of humanity, his characterise of being open minded and strong helps him connect himself with others and have a positive view. Gaitra refers to a prayer in the Book of Common Prayer, he believes that this captures Romulus' 'sense of life' : 'Man that is born of women hath but a short time to live and is full of misery'. This together with the outlook of Romulus we can see that suffering is natural to a human and we can relate to it. Romulus through this got the characteristics that helped him to feel kinship with others and to express compassion and support when others were suffering. Through this build up in character Romulus became closer and belonged to this people in his life.
Romulus was raised by his grandparents I n his early years, his education was incomplete, he was obligated to work from a early age and he was controlled through violence, this was all due to the breakdown of his parents life.
This built his character in these early years of his hard life, even though he faced all these difficulties it didn’t turn him off work or education, better yet his love for learning was sustained, his respect for work was established and he manifested a sense of duty towers his family....
