Everyone has a place where they go to escape all the pressures and worries of life. There is always that one spot that can soothe all your problems and troubles in times of stress. For me, the beach is the ultimate cure to all of my problems. While I am there, all of my obligations are suddenly erased. While it may be considered a long journey to some people, to me it’s definitely worth the five-hour drive.
As soon as I arrive to the great city known as Santa Cruz the first thing I notice is the wonderful ocean smell. I don’t have a specific spot in the beach, for me the whole beach is considered my spot. The smell of the salty sea tingled threw my nose as I breathed in a breath of fresh air. As I stroll along I can feel the soft smooth sand beneath my feet. I close my eyes, letting myself absorb the blistering rays of the sun on a scorching summer day.
As I continue walking I can hear the birds singing into my ear with high spirits, roaming around the sky. There are many beautiful things to see at the beach. Many of these sights are quite peaceful. I walked up to the edge of the beach again and dunked my toe into the water. It felt as if my numbed foot from before melted into a puddle mixed with the ocean. As I lay in the sand, I could see the fish in the ocean panicking, at the same time I could sense their fear toward the sea gulls that were hungry looking for any fish in the water for lunch.
The waves show a smile in return and create a huge wave that carries everyone safely back onto the shore. The sound of the waves coming of the massive deep blue ocean and washing up on shore of the white sand beach or the sound of them crashing up against the sharp jagged rocks of the coast line are soothing. Something about the rhythmic timing of each wave causes a relaxing sensation and can almost put me into a deep sleep. Out onto the far ocean, I can see glimpse of people riding jet- skis racing as a bullet toward the never ending horizon and up...
