According to some people, elderly drivers should be required to reapply for their driving licenses because with age comes diminished vision, hearing, and reaction time. How do you feel about this issue? Explain what you think should be done and why.
There are many issues to consider regarding elder population to drive after certain age. First of all, elder people will not have good health as age progress. This can affect their overall well being. Apart this, disease like Dementia, where memory starts declining has also deep impact on driving skills. Moreover, Each year ten percent of residents are turning sixty five, and if all these residents continue to drive without proper screening and driving test they can very disastrous to society by causing lot of accidents due to inefficiency that is caused by aging. Thus it will improve road safety it license to drive are renewed yearly.
Second, if elders start to reapply for driving license periodically, it will increase responsibility among drivers of all age group. My personal experience is a good experience for this. My community elders conducted a small fair, showing how they are trying to be more responsible and independent, and trying not to be liable to society. This group showed that they renew license every year to avoid accidents by restoring safety in the society. Apart that they said they also do exercise to be healthy and independent....
